Your Truths are Untouchable

I saw a quote the other day that got me thinking.

“What you are afraid to do is a clear indication of the next thing your need to do.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson – May 25, 1803 – April 27, 1882

Of course this doesn’t mean if you are afraid to jump off a cliff that is what you should actually do. It is more about challenging yourself to go further, try harder and search deeper.

For me, the saying is also wrapped up in remembering my personal truths. Who I am and what I stand for.

I had an extremely negative lockdown experience. At the same time a whole can of worms was opened within my online world. Barefoot’s new meme asks about lessons learned that have led you to think positively.  Well, when the worms were wriggling about and my personal life, due to the lockdown circumstance, was breaking down, a wonderful writer I know on Twitter said to me…

And remember to hold on tightly to your truths. They are yours and untouchable.

Vlad Lioncourt

As soon  as I read his message tears began to silently stream down my face. But not because I was sad but rather I could see so much held within that statement. As time went on I stopped being afraid, but instead harnessed the fear to help me hold on tightly to the truths that are part of me. They indeed are untouchable and not up for negotiation. I ceased to be scared of what other people were declaring was written in my bible. And instead began once again to feel positive and brave – as I know my personal psalms and hymns. Not only that I’m more than happy to share them with you if you want to listen ;-).

So, I moved forward and only look back when I want to reflect and understand myself better.  I’m fortunate in my strengths; I am ever willing to learn and challenge myself. While still trying to get to grips with my weaknesses and attempt to remain positive throughout.

I think Vlad’s comment – holding on tightly to your truths – applies more than ever in these strange covid times. Know your truths. Stand up for them. Don’t be scared to be an individual.

The header photo was taken recently. When my man and I spent time together being us, for us, and having fun as a couple. Read about it – Submissive Saturday.

And here is the un-cropped version.

  1. This is a great post May and so important to see lessons in situations which challenge us. This photo is stunning and I really like the uncropped version. missy x

  2. Beautiful picture May, and your words hit home for me too.

There is something about looking back and seeing the lessons we have been gifted by those less than positive situations.

    Thank you for linking up.x

Love it when you talk to me
